About us

Eddy is a production company founded by Jean-François Bourrel and Nicolas de Rosanbo. Built upon the former "Chez Eddy" studio and its 13 years experience in design and production, the house develops projects of emerging artists spotted for their strong and unique visual identities. We guide our roster of talents in the writing process of short films and music videos, giving them opportunities to bring their distinctive touch to advertising campaigns. We believe that this approach allows us to produce audacious, accurate and director-driven projects.

MDP - Jean-Paul Gaultier - Paris

Hugo Ramirez

The collaboration between La Monnaie de Paris and Jean-Paul Gaultier had started with the creation of 12 coins inspired by the city of Marseille. It goes on with a new collection, this time dedicated to the city of Paris. The promotional films for these collections around France are signed by Hugo Ramirez and Eddy.

For this project, the director’s main inspiration was the movie Soy Cuba, which became iconic for it’s long and bold sequence-shots.

Through flight-over effects, we follow the chase of Jean-Paul Gaultier’s iconic ‘Man’ and ‘Woman’, from indoor to outdoor decors and from one historical landmark to the other. Olivier Lescot, animation supervisor at Brunch Studio, succeeds in using 2D animation techniques to give a sense of complete freedom while dealing with a complex subject.

The graphic universe has once again been created by the illustrator Leïla Courtillon, with the input of Jean-Paul Gaultier for the details in clothing and particularly the woman’s corset. The pop-style soundtrack was composed by musician Spock. This campaign is conceived by the agency La Chose.

J'ai fait la Fnac: Nekfeu

Hugo Ramirez

Eddy collaborated with the Marcel agency to create the “J’ai fait la Fnac” campaign that focuses on notable celebrities who found inspiration at the French retail chain that specialises in cultural and electronic products. In-house director, Hugo Ramirez, took the helm for all three films applying his unique vision to create lively and varied aesthetics with Brunch Studio bringing the trilogy to life with advanced and refined animation techniques.

Hugo Ramirez developed a rich neon world for the film that celebrates French rapper Nekfeu’s discovery of literature. Ramirez filmed and assembled footage through a series of shoots that were then developed for a team of artists to rotoscope each frame by hand in watercolour. The final result is a striking spectacle of colour that marries a distinctive street style with literature from War & Peace to White Fang.

MDP - Jean-Paul Gaultier - Marseille

Hugo Ramirez

This animation is one of the two films made for La monnaie de Paris. We crafted both films in traditional animation from a visual style developed by Leila Courtillon. We conceived them as long takes that combined impressive camera movements (animated in 2D) and a very rough style, which created a sensation of perpetual movement, speed, and lightness. Director Hugo Ramirez selected iconic monuments of La Monnaie de Paris's cities, which enabled us to design astonishing and spectacular transitions composed of morphs and wipes. The animation was led by the talented Olivier Lescot who interpreted designs with a wonderful sense of fluidity.
